19 The Sun LIFE CODE DECK

🌞The summer Solstice is nearly upon us 🌞

Here in the UK, we’re familiar with images of the Pagan and Druid community celebrating the rise of the sun on the summer solstice at the ancient site of Stonehenge.

But does it have any spiritual significance to those of us who do not follow those traditions?

And what does Tarot tell us about the Spiritual Meaning of the Summer Solstice?

The Sun is an awesome power and arguably affects us consciously more than the Moon, whose effect is often subtle and subconscious.

While we may not ‘worship’ the sun in the traditional sense, paying attention to its energy and our reliance upon it, helps us maintain a more aligned energy with life and nature in an important way.

The Sun in Tarot represents a joyful celebration of life.

It reminds us to see life clearly, without the shadow of fear.

It tells us that ‘Joy’ in life is not an optional extra.

It is, instead, a necessary component of an abundant life experience.

The sun also connects us powerfully to the earth and its power.

The Solstice this year is amplified by a full moon, which is the maximum expression of the moon’s energy.

The Moon refers to our shadow, our fear and subsequent low mood.

The Sun card in Tarot leads us out of the shadow of the Moon (card) into the nourishing light that is already within each one of us.

A perfect energetic creative pairing and a wonderful opportunity to allow ourselves to be free of our mind’s narrow, fearful restrictions.

Turning our attention to loving life for its own sake, helping us bypass whatever fear or doubts that might be present.

The summer solstice is a celebration of the sun’s energy at its peak, and it is an energy we all experience and share.

Have you noticed how everything seems more possible in the sun?

How we are braver, more confident, more empowered?

As the longest day of the year with the most sunlight, we can embrace the sun symbolically as a symbol of intuitive power and personal transformation.

As the sun connects us to the energy of the earth.

If you want to only do one small thing on the day of the Solstice, connect with nature, focus on what brings you pleasure in the natural world.

Perhaps even plant something that brings you joy.

As your hands connect with the earth, perhaps reflect on that connection and how you, with the sun’s energy, are a positive part of this magical process of life.

Promise yourself that you will stay conscious of this, nurturing both yourself and your life as you do this plant.

The Four Directions – Special Summer Solstice Reading.

four directions

The four directions; east, south, west and north, represent the cardinal energies of the four seasons. When we tune into the four seasons, we can ask for guidance, aligning ourselves with the divine, cyclical rhythm of nature. If you request this reading, affirm to yourself that you are open to receiving guidance from the warm, positive power of the solstice.
I will draw 12 cards for you, representing the months that make up the four seasons of the year.
Magical overarching energy – I will begin with a card that defines the overarching energy that will guide the reading.
Guidance from the South is the direction of Summer.  It allows us respite and relaxation, allowing us to rediscover our purpose and direction . I will ask what you should focus on regarding the bigger meaning of your life, and where you should focus your energy and attention.
Guidance from the North represents winter, wisdom and protection. I will ask for guidance on what wisdom is needed for your journey.  What will nurture you through the symbolic cold? What should you keep safe and protect.
Guidance from the East is represented by spring and new growth and beginnings. I will ask what growth you have experienced in the last 3 months, what new opportunities have been presented to you and how you can carry positive energy through.
Guidance from the West is the direction of Autumn, where the Sun sets. Representing the energy of harvest and the release of what is no longer needed.  I will ask for guidance for you for the wisdom to know when to let go and what to let go of.
Setting Intentions – the Summer solstice is an energetically charged day and an important one to set intentions. – I will ask what intention you should set yourself for the best result in the year ahead
Gratitude and Manifestation – Expressing gratitude is a wonderful energetic practice to do any day, but it is especially powerful on a Solstice. I will draw a guidance card for you on what to focus on.   An important part of the manifestation process is to feel gratitude for what we want before we even have it.  We are, when we do this, telling the universe we trust that our wishes will be fulfilled and that we are calling in the energy we desire.   In whatever way you choose to celebrate the solstice this year, do try and spend some time feeling the sun’s rays on your face.  It is in this light that we come to know who we really are and can truly celebrate our life and the gift that it really is.
