The Fool is always the beginning of every new journey in life – whether it be a big or small step and if you’re feeling stuck, The Fool is your secret best friend to get everything moving again. Don’t forget to leave me a little comment and subscribe to the channel.
Spring is definitely peeking around the corner, it’s still chilly but doesn’t it feel better to see those green shoots peeking through the soil.
A clump of purple crocuses has appeared randomly in the middle of the earth path outside the back gate here, and I say good morning to them, making sure to carefully step round them every morning.
So as everything wakes up from it’s winter sleep, it’s time for us to get like the crocuses and come to life.
But what if you’re just feeling stuck in the mud, wheels spinning and have no idea what’s next?
Weâve all been there, me included.
Normally we feel stuck, because weâve thought it through, weighed the options. We see the risks, the past mistakes, the possible outcomes, which simply leaves us in the same place, standing still – stuck!
Or perhaps youâre stuck because it just feels like life isnât showing you the next step, things just aren’t moving, thereâs no information – sigh!
A bit like looking at the information boards at the station and finding it blank.
This is where The Fool appears in the Tarot.
The Fool card is the very first Tarot card. It is Zero because within it are all potentials but no reality.
The name âThe Foolâ doesnât sound inviting though does it?
No-one wants to be a fool, or foolish. Of course not.
Itâs not called the Fool because itâs foolish, itâs because itâs innocent of knowledge.
Innocent of fear, of pain, of the consequences of getting it wrong.
But also innocent of good stuff as well, because well, it’s the potential all ALL things – good and bad.
We know they’ll be both – and that’s OK.
It isnât reckless. It isnât naĂŻve. And it certainly isnât foolish in the way weâre taught to fear.
The Fool is the part of you that moves before certainty arrives. The part that understands that clarity often comes from action, not from overthinking.
In those moments we donât ask permission or guarantees, we donât even really think, we simply act, knowing we’ll figure it out along the way.
When the fear of things staying the same – outweighs our fear of change.
In Tarot, The Fool stands at the edge of a cliff, representing something unknown. Not because they donât see the edge, but because they trust themselves to meet whatever comes next. That trust is the real magic here.
Not blind optimism, but a knowing that you are capable of responding to life as it unfolds.
This doesnât mean you have to quit your job tomorrow, it doesnât mean ending relationships on a whim or throwing caution to the wind. Fool energy can be very subtle. It means saying yes to curiosity instead of fear.
Even asking a new question is Fool energy.
The reason The Fool is numbered zero is because it exists outside the usual rules of progression. It isnât behind you or ahead of you; itâs now.
So, if youâre feeling heavy, or unsure, try this:
Instead of asking âWhatâs the right move?â, ask âWhatâs the most alive move?â
The Fool doesnât promise safety. It promises movement. And movement made consistently is what loosens stuck energy every single time.
If youâd like to explore what The Fool is inviting you toward right now, Tarot can offer a great view from above, to help you trust your next step.
Letâs just for now ignore our fear, our objections, our worry about mistakes or anything else that nags away in the background.
Letâs just explore whatâs possible, we can do that together,
With curiosity and care,
Janis
