Last year, when I decided to share the story of our trip around Europe, I wasn’t sure that it was a good idea.
It is a personal journey after all, and I wasn’t sure how appropriate it was to share it.
I believe Tarot is not just about readings and cards though.
It’s about real life in action!
I was moved by how many people came along, (virtually) for the ride, and I loved documenting and sharing our journey.
This year, we’ve embraced the whole thing in an even bigger way.
A bigger bus and a longer trip, but also as an exploration of what we really want in life.
It’s proving quite interesting.
Every day is completely different.
Old routines simply don’t work.
Everything takes twice as long as we think it will, and we have to adapt to new ways of being.
Letting go of how you think things ‘should’ be is always a challenge in life and this journey highlights that challenge.
And it’s made harder because we can get really boxed in by sneaky ‘shoulds’.
Perhaps you have noticed them yourself?
By this age I should be….
By this time I should have….
That is what life should be.
That is what I should have done.
That is what ‘they’ should do (or say).
This experience should be……
If you’re experiencing a nasty case of the shoulds, you’ll know that it really is a killer.
Nothing on this trip has been as expected.
(OK, it rained through France – that was absolutely expected).
We’ve made some rookie mistakes.
What’s been most interesting though, is how powerful each different experience is in the moment.
It has felt almost like the trip is being redefined every hour.
One moment it’s all going wrong and we’re cold, frustrated and pretty fed up.
The next minute, we’ve solved that problem, moved on and everything looks good again.
Then, we’re on our way to the next new experience – as yet unknown!
We’re experiencing everything full on, to the max – good and bad!
It’s a steep learning curve, and it feels like a microcosm of life itself.
The question I’ve been asking myself is, is living in the now, really possible?
Not defining anything as definitively good or bad, just as an experience.
This tells you that the experience you’re currently having is the one you should be having – because you, my friend, like us, are on an adventure that is specifically yours – and yours alone!
It’s a story, and it’s all leading somewhere.
There are clues and signposts, problems to solve and decisions to make about what to do next.
There’s no should about it.
There’s only the road ahead and where you want to head to next.
If I can help, let me know?
We set off across the channel, but things didn’t look promising.
Find out why?
Hope you enjoy!
